| BHP cuts coking coal price by 7pct with Japanese steel mills for Q4 - 01 Sep, 2010 | ||
|
The Nikkei business daily reported that Japanese steelmakers have reached an agreement with mining giant BHP Billiton for 7% cut in coking coal prices for the three month period ending December 31st 2010. As per report, the price for high quality coking coal was set at USD 209 per tonne for the October to December period as compared with USD 225 in the July to September quarter. This is the first decline since the industry switched to setting prices quarterly in April and reflects severe slowdown in Chinese demand. (Sourced from Nikke) | ||
